I am thinking about ordering buttercream online to save time with decorating my cake. What would anyone recommend I purchase and where?
I've seen alot of posts about Rich's buttercream, but I don't personally know where you would go about ordering that. I think companies like Satin Ice, and maybe CK make ready to use buttercream. Try looking up Country Kitchens, Pfiel and Holing, Sugar Craft to name a few online companies.
Sam's will let you purchase their icing by the bucket, but I'm not sure how much.
The frosting I make can be made a month ahead of time. I make two to three batchs and put in a bucket. From their goes to my pantry. Matter a fact I need to go Costco and pick up 50lbs of poweder sugar. Took me 7 months to use it but I saved a lot of money buying it that way.
Countrykitchensa.com does sell frosting in a bucket. Shipping maybe high. Sugarcraft also sells CK frosting.
To my knowledge, SatinIce does not make ready-to-use (RTU) buttercream.
Rich's is Bettercream, not buttercream, and it is non-dairy.
Most ready-to-use buttercream icings are only available to professionals, as they come in 25 pound buckets. Normally you need a business license to purchase them.
Occasionally there is a supply store which will carry this product, as does the one near me. Hopefully someone near you does.

hmmm, i have always made my own. let us know if you find something wonderful and affordable?
vettabaking.. I see that you are in Trenton NJ. There is a store in Cranford NJ that sells the large buckets of buttercream icing. The store is called Sweet 'n Fancy Emporium. It may be a little ride for you but you could call and place your order and then pick it up. They are online at http://www.sweetnfancy.com/cake.html
