Yes, if you paint it on. Doing it dry tends to gum up the paintbrush.

I had another question to add about luster dust. Are people talking about the CK brand luster dust? or is there another kind? The local cake supply store where I live used to sell the CK brand and they stopped because they said it was not FDA approved, and they were no longer allowed to sell it. Can I still use it?

It is non toxic, so it won't kill you if you have alittle bit on a piece of cake. As with everything, I'm sure it would be bad if you eat large amounts every day. There is only one brand of luster dust that I know of that is actually FDA approved and that is Crystal Color Dusts. Sugar craft has them and I think they are pretty expensive.

Hi- i have another question regarding luster dust and buttercream- is any buttercream recipe suitable for working with luster dust? how long should you wait before topping with luster? mine didn't come out great one time because the BC was too soft and when i touched it with the bruch, it softened the shaped details of the BC. Hope you can understand this. THANKS! icon_smile.gif

I use a crusting BC so that makes it really easy. I really don't know about other BC's, but I would think that it would be a bit difficult to paint on a softer one, which it sounds like you used.
