Hi everyone! Once you make flowers out of royal icing and they dry. Can you paint them or will it crumble or disenergrate?

you can paint them... make sure that the dye that you use is water based (i.e. not oil) and to use it sparingly. i'd let the flowers re-dry too.

I have painted the edges of some pansies on a cake with gel food colouring (Wilton) and a fine paintbrush.. the RI flowers were still just fine....I didn't paint the whole thing though, but accents and edges I know are fine.

Thank you so much. I didn't want to do it and mess them up icon_smile.gif
