Have you ever had a Cupcake Happy Hour? I am planning on doing them once a month and would appreciate some input. Any ideas from flavours (how many to offer), how exactly to go about it ... do you let cutomers buy just one or is there a minimum under these circumstances?

I will be running the happy hour out of a chocolate shop on our main street and need ideas for set-up as well. When cupcakes aren't part of the regular product line, how do you display properly? Cupcake tree displaying all the flavours with rest of them in the back? I'm going to do some advertising for the first couple to get them started.

Any ideas would be much appreciated as I want these to be looked forward to by customers!

Under the guide lines of a tradional happy hour, drinks are half price and the hor'derves are usually complimentary, some may offer a one price deal for the whole thing. I would suggest offering coffee and some nice teas, perhaps 3 flavors of cupcakes regular size or maybe 1/2 dozen mini-cup flavors. You may even offer something not so sweet to take the sweet edge off and add a little something different.

This is not something I've heard of. What is the purpose, to increase business? Sounds interesting.

My plan for Cupcake Happy Hour is to get my name around town more; make walk-in in sales and to draw more people into the Chocolate Shop (I have a vested interest).

I will discount the cupcakes (not considerably) for the happy hour and advertise. We don't have a bakery in town and people are complaining that they can't get 'gourmet' cupcakes without ordering, so there is opportunity for some large sales if it's marketed properly.

Sounds like a great idea. I hope it goes well for you.
(brain starts ticking wondering if I can find a chocolate shop around here that would like to do something similar....!)

Natalie.

No, but it's such a great idea. I wish one of the cupcake businesses here in SF would do that. It would be hugely successful.

I'm drawing a blank on creative display ideas, but I like cupcake's idea of doing a mix of regular size & minis and offering a tea & coffee pairing. You could mix traditional flavors with a few things that are more daring.

This is a great website for flavor inspiration

I love your idea and best of luck with it!
