The only other products I have heard of for soaking cakes is liqueurs and liquors, or melted preserves. Rum, bourbon, cointreau, frambois, limoncello, and others. For the melted preserves, you just take some fruit preserves and gently melt them back to their liquid state, then brush onto your cake layers.

There could be others, perhaps this will get someone else's attention.

Something I just learned today -- I got this from a friend in the industry:

The syrup (not packed in juice) from a can of peaches or pears, reduced to half, also works well as a cake soak. It will give the taste of the fruit to the cake. He also said that soaks only work well on sponge cake (hence the name Sponge!). Regular cakes will get soggy.
