Hello everybody,
I have do make a "Wiggles" Red car cake and I was wondering is it possible to get that bright red from MMF??? Its a boy's B'day so nothing pink will do .....has to be RED!
How can I get that blood red color?

Also, I have to put the car ( which I'm planning to make from the 3D cruser pan)on top of a cake. Which size will work best? 8" round or 1/4 sheet?

Last but not least...will a strawberry flavor cake be strong enough for the 3D car cake? Can anybody pass me a good dense strawberry cake recipe that I could use??

Thanks so much in advance.

I recently made my son a red sports car cake for his birthday. I used food color to get the mmf fondant as red as I could. ( it was a dark orangeish pinkish color. Then after making the car (cake) and assembling it, I painted it w/red food color mixed w/ alcohol to redden it up a bit more and it looked really good. I think it would look great on either an 8" round or a sheet. Good luck!

Hi cakeflake,
You mean the regular Wilton Christmas Red???
And you just mix the color with Alcohol and paint with a regulat paint brush or any special kind of brush is required?

Yes. I just mixed red food color with lemon extract but you could use clear vanilla or vodka as well. I have regular paint brushes I bought from a craft store that I just use for cakes. I just mixed the color w/ the alcohol and I added just a very small touch of orange to keep it from having a pinkish hue to it. I had to put I think, two coats on it but it to darken the color but it doesn't take long at all to paint. I'll try to find my picture and post in on here if I can -if that would help. I think the most important thing is to get the fondant as dark as you can first, then paint. Keep in mind you will still be painting a somewhat pinkish car, but even the fondant darkens as it dries and the pink will just be a base for the red you'll paint over it. I'm sure it's going to look awesome!

If you look in my photos the lady bug I made is red. I used Americolors to get her that way. Same with the black. Would have never made it with Wilton. I think I used Red Red and Super Black.

if you add your color to your marshmallows when they are melted, before you add the powdered sugar you will save yourself a lot of time, mess and energy trying to knead red into your fondant.
