I received a catalog in the mail with some great xmas stencils in it. Want to try some with sugar cookies-thinking it will be faster to stencil a round cookie than outline and fill/detail a shaped cookie??? Right??!!
Can I cover the cookie with a royal icing, let it dry and then use a crusting buttercream with the stencil?? How would I use luster dust?? Would appreciate any tips-I have not done this before!! Thanks a lot!

I posted some stenciled cookies in the Sept. cookie thread. I will put them in my pics for you. I covered the NFSC with MMF and used my Americolors diluted with vanilla as the paint. I did it as you would usually do a stencil. I think with practice I could do ok with the technique.

They are in my pics now. PM me if your interested in this method.

I am interested in anyone else with ideas on stenciling. Has anyone tried covering with MMF and spackle with royal?

I cover my cookies with fondant, then either use a soft brush and powdered colors. or royal icing to stencil with. I like the soft look of the powdered colors as aposed to the royal icing. There are pictures of stars done with the powdered color in my photos.
