I'm a cookie bouquet for a friend this weekend! What is better the cookie sticks or scews? the cookie sticks seemed to short and the scews seemed to thin. What works better: baking the cookies with the sticks in them, putting the sticks in the cookie right out of the oven or "glueing" the sticks on with royal icing? Please help? Any suggestions would be great!!

I've only done 1, but I put the sticks in right when they came out of the oven and it was very successful for me. As the cookies puffed a bit where I was pushing the stick in I used my hand to kind of keep it all together. Then it sat made for 2 days before I delivered it and nothing bad happened! She told me 2 days later that the uneaten cookies were still standing great on their sticks!

Personally I like putting the sticks in before baking.

At Michael's they sell the sticks in 2 lengths. I have tried all ways of placing in the cookie, before baking, after and gluing w/ RI. I had the best luck w/ RI, but I've seen others have luck w/ the other methods. I think it's just what ever you can get the hang of. Good luck and HTH!

i use the skewers...they hold up well and you can cut them real easy with sissors if you want different lengths...i also bake mine with the sticks in and i dont soak my sticks and they have yet to burn ( knock on wood ) if the sticks get loose when they cool just slide them out take your RI and pipe some into the hole then put the stick back in and it holds them great. i have accually pulled mine out on purpose just so that i could "glue" them in to be sure that they were secure. hth
