I don't have an airbrush but would like to put gold lustre dust all over my cake, does anyone know if by using a small foam paint roller it would give a good even effect. I have tried painting on the cake but it showed up too many brush marks. I would then finish off the rest of the decorating after it had dried. Any suggestions?
Thanks
Laura

I've used a foam brush (not foam roller) when applying luster dust wet with vodka or extract. It helps to use luster dust in paint/heavy whipping cream consistency - too thin and it will show brush marks, too thick and there will be globs of luster dust.

My only concern with a foam roller is that you will use too much of the mixture to get the roller loaded for painting. I'd also worry about some parts on the roller getting dry before being used on the cake.
