The cake will be 3, 9" round layers.
I'm just begeining and finding that all of the advise from members on this
site seem to be very helpful. I've looked through all the posts about pricing that I could find, but it really seems like all cakes must be priced on a indivudal basis.
Please....HELP before I crack-up!!

Thanks, Rachel

I'd take the total cost of ALL the ingredients for your cake, including the cake board, box, etc. and probably double the cost. If you have $15 of your cost in the cake, then charge $30... that's the minimum I'd charge for it ... just my opinion icon_smile.gif

I charge $25 for a 10" round. Buttercream decorating only. Extra for fondant accents. Good luck!!

Pricing is so individual. I've read so many different formulas. It also varies depending on where you live and what the pricing is like for similar goods.

In my area crappy store cakes cost about $15-$20. Bakery cakes cost over $50, so I start a double layer cake with buttercream and jam filling at $40. My costs are NEVER below $10 and I figure I should get at LEAST $10 an hour for labor and most cakes take me about 3 hours to do (and that's not counting clean up time or even the "baking" time - just the mixing and decorating part).
