About how long should I let a 1" thick frozen cake set out before I can frost it? TIA

What is the size of the cake other than the thickness, ie: diameter? I personally let all of my cakes thaw at least 12 hours, so they can settle also........

I can usually start working with cakes I take out of the freezer 2-4 hours after I set them out. They are thawed but still firm enough to work with ok.

patriciaa668--
Your title brings back memories...
I have always said "unthaw" but when I worked in a office, One lady started laughing when I told someone I had to unthaw some chicken.

I couldn't figure her out until she told me that thaw was the "correct" way to say it...if I unthawed it, grammatically meant I was freezing it again.

Sheesh--some perfectionists!!! BTW--I still say "unthaw"
