Ok, I think I have just about talked my most recent bride out of the stairs. Now that she's not getting the stair cake, I really want to provide her with a stunning cake. The colors are sage, ivory, and gold. I have been searching, but haven't found a cake that is "speaking" to me. Any ideas?

ivory BC/fondant - maybe some draping?

I'll think some more.

Tara, sometimes I feel like you are the only one who understands about the extremely small town thing. I just emailed her some pics and made suggestions about the cakes that didn't have stairs. I also told her that I would have to order crystal stairs because my white ones wouldn't match the ivory she wanted on the cake. She basically said that I could do whatever I wanted, just show her some ideas first. She even said "I think simpler is better anyway". All the pics I sent her with stairs on them were cluttered. Well, really its hard to find a picture with stairs that's not of an elaborately decorated cake.

You girls are "AWESOME"!! I knew you would come through for me. Oh, and littlegraham, I had already sent her the pic of your cake!! I love it! And the one by Dianescakes with the swiss dots on the sage fondant.......OMG. Well, I'm off to send all these pics to her, lol. Thanks to all of you, especially the ones who posted more than once. It means alot that you took time out of your day just to help me, sniff sniff!

Thanks cassandrascakes. Hey you're not the only one in small town.

I live in small town mid American - less than 2600.

Good luck on your cake - be sure to post pics.
