I was out shopping yesterday and ended up buying 3 things just because I thought they would make great designs for a cake! Not trusting myself to remember the detail that I wanted to icon_confused.gif , of course I had to buy the items. They were all Christmas/winter themed: a box of cards, a spoon rest and a dish. It might be cheaper if I upgrade my cell phone to one that takes pictures! icon_lol.gif Can't wait to make these cakes though. I just hope they turn out as I have them pictured in my head.

You know where I've been spending my husband's $$?? On coloring books! LOL I bought a hotwheels one yesterday. Now that I've learned about fbct, I just am addicted and I'm not satisfied with what I can find online for pics, sorry... So I now have SIX jumbo coloring books and two smaller ones. That's about $60 just on silly coloring books!!!

I'm thinking of doing something bad - scanning the pics I want and then returning the "unused" coloring books to the store. Isn't that terrible?

DH would DIE if he knew that's what I bought at ToysRus!

Try the dollar store for coloring books!
They have them all year long. Nice big simple pictures just perfect for choc transfers and FBCTs. If you find the design too simple it's an easy matter to add your own touches to them.

Oh goodness... I could never add features - that's why I love FBCT as I have NO drawing talent - though I've always been good at tracing! All that practice in childhood may pay off!

My husband is artistic, but he hates when I volunteer him! Shoot!

You know you can find coloring book pages for free on the internet? There are quite a few websites out there that have allot of choices (Disney/Bluesclues etc). Just type coloring pages in google. I print them out all the time for co-workers kids that come to visit the office.

Coloring books are great. There are even books for adults (nice ones). I understand buying stuff because it might fit an idea or look at that, I can surely use that... I have to be careful or I'll need a room just for stuff. Fun, huh?

hate to be a party pooper, but just so you all know....coloring books are copy written material and they state so in the first page!!

So be very careful who you are using the FBT for!

That said..

Back to the party! lol

Boy, you are a party pooper! I had never given it any thought. But, you're certainly right. Can copy right be claimed if the "copy" is modified as part of the process. Mine never really look like the picture, exactly. Or am I just dreaming??

well, I do that ALL the time. I change a lot of things when I use a drawing. unless is a royaly free image.

And if it's for someone I know...well guess what..? I don't bother. I know, I know...lol

but, since ignorance is no excuse when you break the law...I figured...please...if I get fined I can pay off in trade..."ANYONE FOR A NAUGHTY CAKE? " lol

Just be aware, that's all

to alter a coloring book image...:

I use tracing paper to go over the drawing..then I add or subract things that I can or cant' use. I also try to personalize the features, hair, clothing or background. I am not confident in my drawing skills to "wing" something!

I use to tell my students to use coloring book pics all the time with the gel transfer, but not to use them for sale. What they did after class was none of my bees wax..lol

so back to the party gals!!

I might be "safe". I don't sell any of my cakes. They're gifts, always. But, it certainly is something to be aware of. thumbs_up.gif
