So I colored some Royal Icing black the other day and designed some spiderwebs for my Halloween cake next week on some parchment paper. How long does it take to dry? I made sure everything was grease free before making the RI, I used a disposable pastry bag and cleaned and dried my#3 tip before adding in the icing. Its been almost 38 hours and they are still pretty soft, if I try to pull them back from the parchment they lose shape in the area i'm touching. What did I do wrong? Do I need to add more conf. sugar?

they should definately be hard by now. My stuff is hard for sure 24 hours later, usually sooner. I'm not sure what the prob could be. Maybe make a new batch and try again. I just made a RI fence for my graveyard cake last night and this morning it was hard.

it sounds like maybe you thinned it down too much? have you got the recipe that you used? it may be useful to whip up another batch.
when you're thinning it, add very little water at a time, or it gets (and stays) really melty.

Maybe you didn't whip it long enough? I go at least 8 minutes in my KA at medium power (4-6).
