How about using frangipani flowers....I've never actually made these flowers but it seems like I have seen them on a few cakes in the gallery.

You can make hibiscus flowers. There are very detailed instructions for these, but there are others that are much easier, and in my opinion, prettier. This is from Rebecca Sutterby. She is incredible-and my idol! I always look at her site and drool. Here is her tropical wedding cake. As you can see, her hibiscus is iconically correct, and quite beautiful. I might make this type of flower for my daughter's cake. Good luck!

Briansbaker....

thanks for that great website! Do you consider it "cheating" to put on already made flowers? Would you admit to it if a client asked you?

Thanks

I wouldn't consider it cheating to use bought flowers....what would be the difference in those or silk, or real.....you still have to bake and fill the cake and ice it.....that's a lot of work all it's own, if the client asks, you can say they were purchased......if they wanted silk or fresh flowers, they'd have to be purchased too.....as long as the end result is a gorgeous cake like the customer wanted is all that matters.

I don't hink there's anything wrong with buying them either! Lots of them come white so you can decoate them yourself.

Pretty cake!

I don't think it's cheating to use silk flowers, or even ones you buy at the cake supply store.
