I did my first cup cake bouquet and it looked great! I wanted to see how long they would hold up. As I thought after about 3 hours about 3-4 of the bottom ones started slidding off the skewers. Luckly I had extras and put multiple tooth picks in the bottom ones. I kept the icing as light as I could.
WHAT did I do wrong??
I got a wonderful reception and feed back and want to offer them as a new menu item. Anyone have a suggestion or expierence with these?
There is a huge thread on here somewhere about cupcake bouquets and I know there are several solutions to your problem in it...
my solution:
I first cover my styrofoam ball with cellophane, then I put a swirl of green RI on the bottome of my cupcakes, then skewer/toothpick it. The RI dries and helps secure the cake to the ball.
Does that help any?
I use floral pics to hold my cupcakes, You can wrap the bottoms of the stems in floral green tape to give the effect of flowers, then place them in the cupcakes (undecorated), place them in the styro ball where you want them, and then decorate once the cupcakes are placed. Add some silk greens to add to the effect and voila!
I'll post a pic soon....
here are the completed cc bouquets using floral pics...
