of baking a precious little babies first birthday cake that came so close to not making it to her first birthday. A lady I know from my moms group had a baby girl that was born with a heart defect and has since birth undergone many open heart surgeries and procedures. I have seen this precious little baby in the hospital hooked up to giant beeping machines with like 10 different lines of tubes running from her body, scars running the length of her chest and just so much more. it is absolutely heart breaking. The family has had so many ups and downs between baby Reagan being stable one day and completely unstablethe next. Anyway a couple months ago they did a tracheotomy on her and got her stable enough to go home and out of the hospital (she spent 4 months in the hospital fighing for life). I offered up my services to make herfirst birthday cake because she is just so close to my heart.

Here is a photo of her tasting her cake. And if you all could just keep her in your prayers, sheis by no means over her fight as you can see in her photos, this precious little girl has a long way yet to go.

That is so sweet of you to do that for her. My neice had a baby girl last nov and named her Reagan. She had complications at birth and had to be delivered by c-section but she only lived 15 days. Her mother is pregnant again and due in Nov again. I will be praying for this baby as well as my neice's baby. She is so pretty. Your cake is really cute too.

Thank you for your post...a woman I work with has a grandson in a similar situation. He is only 3 weeks old and has already had open heart surgery. He also has a very rare problem with his spine, they have to wait until he is older to deal with it. In the meantime, when they will finally get to hold him, there will be a danger of paralyizing him if they let his head fall back. So scary!
It was good for me to see Reagan princess.gif is doing better, it gives me hope my friend's grandson has a chance as well. Thank you again! thumbs_up.gif

As a parent of a daughter with DS and numerous health and heart problems, I know that the parents were thrilled as was Reagan with her cake. It was so very nice of you to do this. Will add little Reagan to our prayer list.

Oh this story just made me cry! What a great example of "giving back" with your talent and skill!

When I was 16, my mom had her 7th child. He never came home from the hospital. He died at 4 months old, on my mother's 40th birthday. Since I was underage, I couldn't go inside the nursery, but I stood for hours looking in the windows at the tiny tiny babies hooked up with so many wires and tubes coming out of them. Every one of them is a miracle baby.

I am so glad you shared the pics! She is a beautiful little girl!!!

Awww, I feel for them so much. I bet they were so happy about her cake and I pray that next year you'll be doing the same thing when she turns two! BTW, the baby and I share the same name so I know she's a fighter icon_wink.gif
