Hi all,
I am making my Dad a western shirt for his b-day this weekend (thanks to Melvira's inspiring shirt cake). Few questions:
1)Any tips on using the Wilton spray can paint? I want to make about 3/4" stripes
2)I want to stamp on 58 (my Dad's age) stars or something & I want to add sparkle to them. What is the best.
3)Pearlized snaps...any suggestions? I was thinking white MMF with gray MMF ring out it, brushed with luster dust???

Thanks for the help!!

Luster dust sounds like it would work for both the snaps and the 58. If you use it for both, it may prevent the cake from looking like there is too much going on. I've never used the spray can, so I can't help w/ that one. Good luck!

All i can say about the wilton spray, is that it goes everywere into the air if you don't "box" yourself in. I learned the hard way and had it across my kitchen floor into my dining room. It was not fun to cleanup! But it was a nice color on the cake!!

As for the other stuff, i think you are on the right track with the luster dusts.

Sounds like it is going to be super cute! Don't forget to post a pic!! Good luck

Not to mention the fact that if you breathe while spraying that Wilton color in a can stuff, it will go up your nose! We had blue boogers!

Now, seriously, how about some silver dragees to decorate the shoulders of the cake, like the silver studs the old Western singers used to wear on their shirts?

wilton spray is seriously messy like the others said (i had blue/green socks for several days even after wiping up!) , and it does not detail well, or get dark without dripping. i'd recommend mmf strips or even buttercream with the large flat tip.
