Before I got really into cake decorating, I made a simple cake with chocolate icing. I decided to take a dollie and put it above the cake, and then sprinkle sugar so it would fall in the flower pattern. As we all sit doen to eat, by uncle tastes the cake and says, "Are your sure you did every thing right?" It turned out that i sprinkled on salt instead of sugar!

I had a similar incident, but with coffee. At church I brought coffee to several men in the men's class and my husband was the only one who asked for sugar. In the cabinet were bowls filled with what appeared to be sugar. It was salt. I put a full teaspoon of salt in my husband's coffee. He said he was in class trying not to gag but couldn't figure out why no one else was not.

He's never let me forget it. icon_lol.gif

A similar thing happened to me! I was making cream cheese mints and instead of rolling them in sugar before molding them I rolled them in salt. Fortunately, I taste as I go, so I only got through half the batch before I realized what I was doing! I used the salty mints for a joke with my dad...he couldn't figure out why everyone else was enjoying their mint, but was too polite to say anything! icon_lol.gif

Happened to me on a final for panna cotta.... my chef ran to the trash & spit it out all dramatic like. Kindof funny though, I check the sugar every time now, just in case.

How do you guys mix sugar and salt? icon_confused.gif

I must be the only one lazy enough to keep my sugar in the 5 lb bag and my salt in the shaker or Morton's container. icon_lol.gif

In culinary school they have these big bins of items, sugar, p. sugar and kosher salt were in bins right next to each other. Used the wrong bin! icon_cry.gif
