I am about to try making MMF for the first time. What I want to know is which recipe works the best...the one with crisco added to it or the one with just the marshmallows, water and powdered sugar. I also want to know when is the best time to color it, while you are mixing it or after it's made and has sat. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

this is the best place to start in my opinion. this is also my favorite recipe.

good luck.

I like to put the color in when I all the melted marshmellows.

put a little crisco on your hands when you knead it. it will help it not to stick to your hands

Try the sugar and marshmallow one first. Then try the other and see which one you like best. I like the one without the Crisco. The best time to add color or flavor is before adding to second half of the sugar. After mixing the marshmallow and half the sugar it is still relativel liquid. Add you color and flavors. Slowly start adding the rest of the sugar.

Thanks so much for your advice. I made the non crisco recipe and it came out great. That tutorial really helped. I will be covering my cake tomorrow with it.
