Really Need Help With A Topper
Decorating By summernoelle Updated 29 Aug 2007 , 7:31pm by summernoelle
To me it looks like a color flow or chocolate transfer. Just try it and see what happens... the rest of it seems to be fondant or MMF covered with bows and all.... good luck!
You can PM the maker if you like=) I believe that is a CC member named CakeBaker's website. Here is the link to here profile which lists "Sugar Creations" as her site. HTH some, Jen

I did a cake with a big "1" on the top and i just made it out of mmf with lots of tylose powder added to get it to harden quicker. just rolled it out (1/4- 1/2 inch thick) and cut it from there. I also pushed two toth picks (bout 1/3 of the way up the tooth pick) into the bottom so that it would be able to be sterdy. but i did not add it untill delivered. was too afraid to transport it like that. hope that helps you.
Sorry I've been gone all day.
I was actually needing help with the cupcake? Does anyone know how to make those?
Thanks to everyone who responded-sorry I wan't clearer.
I have done a giant cupcake before. I used my six inch rounds and carved the shape. It is not very difficult. Don't fret over it too much. How will you know if you can tackle it if you don't try, right? Good luck! I'm sure your cake will be just a lovely.
I was going to do a 8 and 6 inch for the other two. For the cupcakes, I was planning on using either 3 or 4 inch cookie cutters.
This is what I would try:
for the top layer, bake a four inch round. Also, because the top looks kinda like it has some shallow ridges, bake a mini bundt cake. Now cut any 'hump' off the bundt cake while it is still in the pan, so that the bundt cake will sit evenly on top of the 4" round. Ice and cover each layer with fondant. If the ridges of the budnt cake are too deep, you can use the icing to make them more shallow before you cover it in fondant. You could even make thin little strips on fondant and place them vertically on the sides of the 4" round so that it resembles a cupcake paper liner.
Try this CC member's cakes, she had one that popped up as an all time favorite and it had a cute cupcake as the topper

Apparently she took a Collette Peters class and did this cake. It was awesome and you could PM her for some advice.
good luck, cute cake!!! Post pics when you are done!

If you are doing a 6" and an 8" I would do a king size muffin for the topper and cover it with fondant. If a king size cupcake is too small then try a 4" pan with a small half ball on top.
OR I would also try Rice Krispie Treats (if you don't need the extra servings) and also cover in fondant.
If you want to PM Rebecca Sutterby (Sugar Creations), her user name is cakebaker, just like newbeebaker said.
Good luck!
What would I do without you wonderful people from CC?
Now, though, the woman wants that cupcake, with a giant cherry on it, and on the cherry, a number 1. Is that even possible?!?! Can you help with that? I tried to talk her out of it.

This is the pic that gingersoave was talking about. I am sure if you PM SugarCoatedCakes or cakebaker (Rebecca) they would help you with the oversized cupcake.
As for the large cherry I would just make one of fondat and set it to one side of the number 1 on top of the cupcake.
I hope this helps.

Oh my gosh, I wrote Sugar Creations, and she wrote me back! She said that it was a 5 inch round, carved, and then super thick fondant on the top that she sculpted. How cool is that?
I tried the cupcake today (before I got my PM) and it looked like a giant mushroom! LOL
At least I have two weeks to perfect it.
