Yay! My Cake Didn't Melt In The Rain!

My sister's wedding was yesterday, and she had asked me to make her wedding cake. No problem. We brought it down, an hour and a half drive, set it up, took pictures, and then I waited for disaster...it was extremely humid and windy (outdoor wedding), and then it poured rain. Then the sun came out. Then it poured again! Oh my goodness - I could hardly even look at the cake - I was afraid it would start melting or falling apart before the bride could even see it!
But as luck (good luck, actually) would have it, it held up just fine. It was an all-buttercream cake that I had finished decorating on Friday, so it had 24 hours to set up and crust well. I can't believe that the icing didn't even get droopy or sag! There was a fine layer of moisture all over the cake, mostly on the back, from the rain that had blown over it, but it didn't dissolve at all. It's a recipe that is supposed to be good in humid weather, but I had no idea! I guess this was the definitive test!
It still cut beautifully and tasted delicious (lots of compliments) and I'm just so happy everything went well! The wedding party had to duck inside the tent for the service instead of under the arbour. It rained so hard that we couldn't hear the minister, even though he had a microphone and was yelling into it! But wouldn't you know, as soon as they got to their vows, the sun came out. It was very beautiful!
I'll try to attach a picture - it's the first wedding cake I've done in about 15 years, and I was really happy with the way it turned out.
