I was thinking about driving to a bigger city this afternoon to go to their Hobby Lobby because I thought maybe they would have more of a Wilton selection... does anyone know if this is true or if all the stores carry the same merchandise? I know at our Hobby Lobby in town they don't have the giant cupcake tree that I wanted or any type of adjustable dowels, square plates or the hexagon pans that I want... but we only live in a city of about 30,000.
I'm not sure about Hobby Lobby, but I am pretty sure that all Michaels carry the same products or atleast most of the same things.
As an WMI I get a list of new products coming into the store (such as around the holidays and in the summer when the new stuff comes out). I would assome that since they send the list it is the same for all stories.
I agree with the idea of calling if you are looking for a specific product.
I do know that Michaels does not carry the 36 cupcake stand. We only carry the 13 and 23 one. It may be one of those things that you have to order from Wilton.
Sorry to disappoint you, Texas Sugar, but not all Michaels, AC Moore, Hobby Lobby, or Joann Fabric stores are alike. I got this information directly from their corporate offices, while doing some research for a forum I used to belong to.
The size and content of AC Moore, Hobby Lobby, and Michaels stores depends on the age of the location. The newer stores they have been opening over the past 2 years are much bigger than the older ones. I can attest to that, as the next nearest Michaels to me is almost twice the size, and even carries more Wilton items than the one closest to me.
Joann Fabrics has regular stores and superstores. Their superstores are much bigger, and also carry a larger line of Wilton products. Ironically, the Joann store near me carries a bigger selection of Wilton products than the Michaels or AC Moore does.

I live in a big city area and AC moore and Michael's has a decent amount of stuff, but none of the Joanne's around me have hardly anything except a few seasonal things by Wilton and nothing more.
However, big cities have cake and baking supply stores which are a bit more expensive, but they have EVERYTHING like three or four different food colorings, all sorts of pans and such. It's like a baking paradise!
Good luck and like others said, PLEASE call ahead!
Melissa
