I'm trying to make a hill using cake and the bottom has to be about 10x14". I plan on doing 4 layers of the same size and then carving it so that it looks like a hill/mound. Do you'll think this is a good idea or would i be better off making a large rectangle and two smaller ones on top of it and then cut off the corners to make a smooth mound (i think this might be harder to do)?

Thank you,

Have to make this cake for tomorrow! Yikes!

that is a huge sounding cake!!!! I would do the round ones and carve...
Good Luck...and have something with caffeine in it...sounds like you will be doing an all-nighter!!!

To make a mound, you can use the Wonder Mold pans (regular or mini).
OR if you don't have time to purchase a new pan, you can always use a pyrex (or aluminum) bowl as your cake pan! it would save a lot of time instead of carving a mound !

Hope this helps!

I would carve. If your cake isn't really dense, you might want to consider freezing them beforehand too, then use a bread knife.
