How do these work? when I put fondant on my cake, I use my hand or fondant smoother, doesn't that mess up the impressions?

OK, here is where it gets tricky.

You do not use your hand or a smoother to attach the fondant to a cake.
In this case, it is recommended that you use a soft sponge. This will keep the embossing from getting smashed back down into the sheet of fondant.

If anyone else has another suggestion, I am open to it.

Wasn't there a class on this at the Cake Camp? Did anyone take it?

It's best to roll out your fondant and cut out the top part first then measure your cake on the sides and cut that part out. Stick the fondant in the freezer just to firm it up a bit then (only about 5 mins or so) then put it on your cake. Getting it chilled helps hold the print. Do not press very hard when you put the fondant on.

This is what I learned from the lady who taught the class at Cake Camp. I did not take that class but I did talk to her and this is what she told me.

I bought some rolling pins from her and asked the same question so she told me the tricks icon_smile.gif
