Okay, I just finished this one and it's due for delivery this evening. Client asked for three tiers, 2 round one square, wine glasses on top spilling out all over the cake with "25's". Gave me swatch to match, and I decided to gradually lighten down with the lessening of the spills. Just not sure what I think about it. Keep telling myself it's all about what the client wants, but I don't know if I should add something. Does it look balanced? Does it look spilled? I'm exhausted and scared I'm not seeing this thing right! TIA!

Okay with 16 views and one opinion, I'm starting to question it more.....
Well thanks Luby and mareg.....ended up not really mattering in the end. It was a rather lengthy delivery and the *@#$ thing fell over literally moments before I arrived at the drop off....of course I didn't know it had fallen, but as I crossed the last set of RR tracks, I had my daughter peek at it and it was still standing. Not 2 mins later I pulled in, was greeted, opened the back of the van, and there it sat with the top two tiers positioned on the back of the bottom tier, dowels askew, cake crumbled, filling exposed. Luckily the top two were somewhat salvageable. Tasty cake though all in all. OH well, guess it wasn't meant to be. She was really sweet and understanding. I still got in the van and cried my lil eyes out. I cannot believe I have another 3 tier to do tonight. And they're wanting to pick it up rather than have it delivered. Think I'm gonna have to insist on delivering it and not charging a delivery fee. ![]()
Oh No!! I am so sorry to hear what happened to your cake. And I can see you put so much work into it. I thought it was fine and exactly what they requested.
I hope you don't have any more rail road tracks!! (I am picturing it and I would have cryed, too. I had only one real disaster that made me cry-I was delivering a baby shower cake and the basinett was fondant and icing and just as I had turned on the customer's street I looked back and saw that in the heat the basinett had melted and looked like a pile of noodles. I was crushed
). I'm sure everyone here has been there at least once. We feel your pain and know you will come thru.
Nik! This was an awesome cake I am sooo sorry I didn't see your thread earlier!!! I love the colors and YES it looks well balanced GIRL don't second guess your work cause you do some amazing cakes babe!!!! I am sooooo sorry that your cake fell, but I am glad they were understanding!! Don't cry over spilt cake hun!!! ((((((((((hugs))))))))
And don't look back whilst doing your other cake!! It's not a jinx I swear!

You know the funny thing is...I knew in the pit of my stomach something was gonna go wrong with it. Maybe it was mad at me cuz I said I though it was ugly. I insulted it and it took a dive..... ![]()
Your cake looked wonderful. You can tell you put your heart in it. If it makes you feel any better, I have disliked every cake I have made and then the customer gets it and gushes over it. I am happy for you that your customer was ok. I know the collapsed at the last minute feeling all to well. Take a deep breath and enjoy making your cake this evening.
It looked really cool - definitely showed creativity. If it helps - you'll notice that there are 3 cakes posted on CC and only about 12 on my website - WHY??? because I am my worst critic. Been doing cakes and decorating for YEARS and either get p$%*#d at the cake or the picture I took
. Can't wait to see the next one.
