make the ribbon sticke to the cake when putting at the bottom of the cake tiers?

i stick them with royal icing..

gum glue also works....

I used ribbon backed with waxed paper last weekend. (waxed paper attached with double-sided tape then trimmed to hide behind the ribbon) and I attached it to the cake with piping get. Worked beautifully!
