I need some advice on freezing a decorated cake then traveling 5 or 6 hrs and then refreezing for a birthday party the next week. I know freezing decorated cakes is not always the best, but because of time I can't think of any other way. Does anyone think this cake would be any good after freezing, thawing and then refreezing. icon_confused.gif

I think a lot depends on the icing. I know you aren't supposed to freeze fondant, and I know buttercream can be frozen but I am not sure if it can be thawed and frozen again...

What if you put the cake in a cooler with some dry ice instead of thawing it? That would keep it frozen until you get to your destination and then you can thaw it when you need it.

Thank you. I'm using bc icing. I think I'm going to take my chances and if it doesn't work it will be a lesson learned. The cake is for my 5 year old nephew and he won't care about bleeding colors. Thanks again
