I know this question was asked on here somewhere but I can't find it so excuse me for asking again.
I have never had fondant of any kind. Not on a cake anyway. I have heard billions of people say regular fondant, like the kind that I guess is on many wedding cakes, tastes terrible.
Many people on here seem to go for MMF.
Questions:
1. What does it taste like?
2. How does the taste compate to regular fondant?
3. And while I'm on the subject...Can I just cover a cake in MMF or do I need to apply a thin coat of buttercream first? And does it have to be buttercream or can it be any kind of icing? I don't like buttercream of any kind. I prefer ganache of pudding as a frosting. Actually, I prefer no frosting if the cake is good enough but...

Hi,
Well I can answer part of the questions, I think MMF tastes like marshmallows or circus peanuts kinda. Very tasty, everyone loved it that tried it. I have also heard that the satin ice brand fondant tastes wonderful too but I have not bought it yet. I have not covered a cake in fondant yet, but I have read that yes you should put icing on the cake first, whether it be buttercream or what ever I am not surte but I don't see why not. icon_smile.gif Ok good luck and hoped I helped a little.

I think MMF tastes great. Some people have said it's too sweet, but I don't think so at all. Especially when you compare it to bc. I cover cakes with it all the time. Works great. Put a layer of bc underneath it. Wilton fondant is better for decorations that you need to dry (bows, etc.), but not for eating. It just doesn't taste good.
