I need to bake a small cylindrical cake. I want to avoid carving. Can anybody tell me how they do this? I thought about using a empty soup can but I don't know if that will work. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Sure it will work! I've baked in tuna cans, soup cans, you name it. I have a small and growing collection on my pan shelf!
