I know this a wierd question. But I have no idea as to where to start.

My Great Aunt died last night after a bad fall and hit to the head, She was around 80. I didn't know here very well as they lived off and only moved near our family in the last few years. They are having her funeral this Sunday. I have been asked to do a cake for after the funeral and have been given free reign to do what I want. I only have a few different pans as I just do this as a hobby and just started. I have 8" and 6" rounds, mini and classic wonder pans, 3D egg, and 11X15 sheet. I want it to be tasteful but pretty, and I don't know how big to make it should I just make a sheet and do white on white, or just an 8" round? I have never made a cake for a funeral icon_redface.gif I don't know where to begin.

Any suggestions would be very helpful.

I'm very sorry for your family's loss.
I think a the 11 X 15 white on white would be pretty and tasteful. Even with a white or very pastel pink rose spray. Some people choose to write on the cake, if you do, something simple like "In Loving Memory" would be appropriate or just leave it blank.

HTH,
Amy

Thank you for your condolences. I dn't know how to make roses and don't have a cake shop around here I can buy the premade ones from. What else could I do instead. I would prefer not to write on it as I am not very good at that either.

I am sorry for your loss.

If you do the sheet cake and divide it into squares, you could put a drop flower or a rosebud, perhaps a sweet pea in each square. I agree with maybe a light pink or other pale color for the flowers. The sweetpea is an easy flower, you should be able to get directions from the wilton site on how to do it.

I agree with the flower ideas. Something sweet and pretty.
I hope you are doing okay.
