Sorry, ya did ask.......BTW, I thought your blue playdough donkey was the best color. LOL

Ha! Throw a hat with a flower on a blue donkey and it could be a girl or boy and then you don't have to worry about brown or grey or mane or no mane. icon_lol.gificon_lol.gificon_lol.gificon_lol.gificon_lol.gificon_evil.gificon_lol.gif

I say definitely the gray one...it is adorable!!

As far as i know, the donkey is not offensive toward the democratic party...it is a very popular symbol. Even Andrew Jackson used it to his advantage and adopted is as his own symbol...but if your not sure about using it...leave it sexless.

I like his ears. One is supposed to be over a little. That is how I always saw them also. Your donkey is adorable!

Well......... I kinda like the donkey in a dress and look at the 2008 buttons they have the donkey half man and half donkey

http://www.buttonzup.com/04_wecandoit.htm

So I guess a donkey in a dress is not that far off! icon_biggrin.gif

I do like the grey one better (although the brown one is adorable and I knew it was a donkiey the second I saw it) and I would probably call the person ordering the cake to get a second opinion or maybe like the 30th opinion if you count all of ours. icon_lol.gif

Well after seeing that site (THANKS BJ) I don't believe I will change it....and watch this P*&& people off...the cake will be sitting on a elephant LOL. I don't really care I'm a republican. I am close friends with the person the party is for and she told me go for it! She is actually planning a party whether or not she wins so...Thought about making 2 signs for the donkey to hold..or sit in front of her...the first two(if she wins) will say Look who won!!! and then her name on the other...if she doesn't The first one will still say look who won...and then the second one will say...who gives a s*&@ lol....oh well just my sense of humor. Thanks for the support CCers!

Hey, BJFranco, do you recognize that picture from somewhere else? That's a take-off on the Rosie The Riveter posters they used to promote women working in the munitions factories during World War II.

Attached is the original picture.

Try this....Thomas Nast was also responsible for the Republican Party elephant. In a cartoon that appeared in Harper's Weekly in 1874, Nast drew a donkey clothed in lion's skin, scaring away all the animals at the zoo. One of those animals, the elephant, was labeled "The Republican Vote!"

Just another twist for you to chew on.....

Wow, you are all so talented and brave. I have yet to attempt to sculpt figures out of fondant. I love to do gumpaste flowers, but I have stayed away from figures so far. You have given me hope that I may be able to do it. Your donkey looks great. Can't wait to see the entire cake.

Triscorey -

I learned how to sculpt figures by practicing with Sculpey. Don't get me wrong, the Sculpey is far more resistant to my hot hands than any of the sugarpastes are, but it made it easier to get the basics down.

I do not do figures yet for cakes, but I do practice techniques a lot. I have two particular figures in my head for about a year now, and when I finally get them done to my liking, you will all know about it.

I'm voting for the grey "sexless" donkey. Both are cute, but I think the grey fits the image better. Good job! thumbs_up.gif
