Okay! Every sugar artist has a disaster story. Here is mine. Did a shower cake for a DEAR friend's granddaughter. Thought I would make hers "special" and do a 3D Christmas tree Cake on a 14" 3 " deep base. Base came out beautifully! INITIALLY the tree was beautiful. White with silver tips (luster dust). The 3D Wilton pan I used was vintage (1986) and had to be baked in 2 pans and "stuck" together. I "hollowed" the cake so it would fit together nicely and then used straws and dowel rods to hold it securely. About 5 hours from the start of the shower my cake buddy called and said the cake had separated and needed to be "axed"! LOL The humidity was 96% outside and the buttercream was also sliding off the cake. SO, all that to say this "HOW DO I GET THE CAKE TO 'STICK' TOGETHER?"
What did you use to stick the cake together? If I had to stick two cake halves together which do not lie on top of each other, I use all crisco bc thick and stick the dowels in at an angle to criss cross the cake from up to down. I don't have that pan, so I'm not quite sure how it's baked.

is this the pan you have??? I can't imagein that it WOULD stand up if connected to another cake just like it.....
I got a used pan on Ebay too... but even though it has two sides, I am pretty sure you are supposed to clamp it together and use a core, just like the 3D bear pan. Maybe you didn't get all the parts? Is there a metal stand like part coming off the top of each half?
My 3D trees always come out great although they are baked upside down just like the 3D bear pan.
