Hi all...I've been lurking around for a week or so now and started answering a few posts so I thought I should at least introduce myself.
I don't do cakes as a business, although the thought of it crosses my mind. I love to make them. I've just done my first wedding cake for my brother last week. It was great fun and I'm anxious to do another.
I'm 35 and I have 5 boys, ages 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10...so my "spare time" is a non-existant thing. 
Maybe some day I can do them more often as a side business.
I also do hair part time, otherwise staying home with the boys.
I've learned tons here already in such a short time. I love the forums and galleries. Thanks for all the info and fun.

FIVE boys! Wow, I can imagine the destruction...LOL..that is if they were anything like my boys as toddlers! I have five kids as well, ages 8,6,5,4, and 2. Mine go girl boy girl boy girl. Oh my name is Karmen by the way....my dad calls me Freddy (thus my username). What state are you in? I am in washington. My hubby is in the navy (as you can see in my sig line). Glad you found your way here and I look forward to seeing all of your works of art! I love your red hair by the way and you have a beautiful family!

First let me say welcome! OMG with 5 boys at those staggering ages, I'm amazed that you have time to do cakes and hair on a part time basis. You must be a true wonder woman.

Welcome to CC! You have a beautiful family! You came to the right place to learn. I've found everyone to be very helpful and knowledgable!! Gee, with 5 little boys, I don't know why you wouldn't have much spare time!!! They're awfully cute, though! I like the even spacing, too!

I know for me it is usually called late nights with little sleep, sometimes none and/or a messy house, a cranky mommy, and kids running around causing havoc and destruction! LOL that is why it is just for friends and family....I could never find the time to do it all the time...plus the stress would kill me! =)

Karmen, you and me have a lot in common...not just the 5 kids, but the military hubbies. My DH is a Marine. He's no longer active...was for 8 yrs. and then reservist for addt'l 5. After a tour in Iraq a few years ago, he opted to go to Inactive status.
My screenname is short for deltawhiskey...which is D A in military and stands for dependant wife...it's been a standing joke for years and it just sorta stuck. LOL
spongemomsweatpants...First of all, I just saw your name for the first time tonight and I was cracking up!!! I actually made my hubby and boys stay at a friends house overnight the day before my bro's wedding cuz I didnt' want to be disturbed or get any little fingers in my cakes. I did the decorating at night, then transferred it to the hall in the morning before they came home. I'm no fool...LOL

Hi everyone! Ive been lurking around for a few weeks, enjoying all of the gorgeous cake pics and soaking up all of the great info and advice/suggestions. Starting to feel like a bit of a peeping tom though so I thought I'd better make my presence known. So here goes..
