I tried on over the weekend and wow it was good. I found a recipe on this site and would like to make it myself. My question is, do you think it will be too moist of a cake to fill and then do my Wilton 2 basket weave on for my final cake? I was just worried because it has to sit in the "3 milks" over night and I don't want it to fall apart in class when I attempt to do the basketweave icon_surprised.gif

Thanks,
sue

I've made this cake and although quite tasty and very moist, I don't think it would be the ideal cake for a decorating class.

I think you would be better served making a mix cake that is sturdy and can be easily torted and frosted.

Also, the tres leches needs to be refrigerated. Do you really want to take it to class, decorate, and then take it home - that's a while out of the 'fridge.

I agree with the last post. Having the basketwave in the cake is not a problem but this cake needs to be in the fridge as much as possible.

Thanks for the input, I didn't even realize it needed to be in the fridge that much icon_surprised.gif I guess I should just stick with a box mix and save the really yummy stuff for another occasion. Your input is appreciated icon_biggrin.gif
