when you pipe chocolate work on the cake do you use just melted chocolate, or do you add other stuff and how much?

Thank you

I have never actually piped chocolate on a cake. I pipe on wax paper then transfer to the cake after it sets up.

When I am piping chocolate for different shapes for cakes, I pipe it on the wax paper as well. I just melt semi-sweet or dark chocolate in the microwave in the piping bag for 30 second intervals until it is smooth and then snip off a little of the tip depending on the size I want to pipe. It actually sets up fairly quickly (of course faster if you put in the fridge for a few minutes...)
