Because the image is so small, I think you will be ok, but JUST IN CASE I would consider having a back up cartridge! Unless the place you get them is right arond the corner! icon_wink.gif

That's probably around 8-10 frosting sheets. I think you should have enough....will the picture you are printing use lots of color?

I wonder if th efolks at KopyKake could help you out with this. That is where I get my supplies.

Better to be safe than sorry. If you don't, good ole Murphy's law will kick in. icon_smile.gif

I ordered mine from Adorama Camera online through Amazon.com. They had an excellent price and the order came quickly and accurately, so I recommend them! Then you can get your supplies from icingimages.com they also have great customer service.

well you can use canon's and now epson printers. they list what ink works with what printer on the www.kopykake.com website. I got my canon at a thrift store for $12, now it is an older model but i wanted to test this out before i invest in a good one.

Please do not use a reconditioned or second hand printer on an edible image. You need to be sure you have a new printer that has never been used with standard ink. Even if you clean the print heads, some of the regular ink can remain in the machine and taint your edible image. You can get new ones of these models for well under $100 and they are SO worth it!

I just got a NEW Epson CX4200 on ebay for $52. icon_biggrin.gif It's a printer/copier/scanner. I'm hoping the cartridges & frosting sheets will arrive today or tomorrow, then I just need to figure out how to use it. What software does everyone use? icon_confused.gif

Hey Tig, I have Microsoft Publisher and Art Explosion Publisher Pro. Both of those work great. You can also just do it in Word if you don't want to buy software! You just place any image and/or text, patterns, etc. make sure to set your margins to the printable area of the frosting sheet and you are done!!

Edited to add: I have some other programs too, come to think of it. I am a web prigrammer, so I have a lot of that kind of stuff. icon_wink.gif

I asked the folks at Kopykake approximately how many sheets 1 tank would print. I asked about 3" circles, black only, about 50% of the circle would be colored. They told me that it should print 2 full packages. You should be a-ok with 1 set of tanks!

Oh, I have the Epson c88+...don't know if the ink volume is different with the canons. I just printed 6 sheets of 3" circles for a party in november...they came out SO great! My mom will be making the cookies... I love my edible setup!

tiggy, I had trouble with the install on Kopykake's deskop decorator, so I made a template in Illustrator and went at it that way...

Well I got my ink cartridges and frosting sheets yesterday and installed the cartridges but they are all showing empty icon_mad.gif The instructions from Kopykake says the low ink warning is because of a bad microchip on the cartridge icon_cry.gif and it can be switched the chip on the original cartridge from the printer. 1. Won't that taint the frosting sheet? 2. How do you switch them? I'm so frustrated icon_confused.gif Can anyone with an epson printer give me any advice?

tiggy - found this for you:

http://www.inksupply.com/chip_swap.cfm

hth!
c

p.s. I don't think it would taint the frosting sheet b/c the microchip is on the outside of the ink cartridge...
