my mom HATES buttercream icing, and really almost every icing. everythings always TOOOO sweet. I'm wondering if anyone knows a really good icing to decorate with that isnt an overkill on sweetness, its like 1 sugar molecule to her tastes like 5 cups lol. i was thinking about maybe a creamcheese icing??? i'm decorating a doll cake so it will have to be sturdy whatever it is.

I've tried, and liked' the whipped cream and cream cheese icing (but don't add all the sugar at once, I stopped at 1/2 cup and it was still sweet).

Here's the recipe:

The Swiss, Italian and French meringues are all less sweet but more complicated to make.

I buy my icing from the lady that taught me how to decorate. It's fantastic to work with, and isn't overly sweet. She lives here in Omaha, NE and ships her icing all over the country. It's called Dixie's Finest Whipped Icing.
