I went by the only cake supply store in my area (other than craft stores which only carry Wilton) and found out they're going out of business after 25 years! The owner gave up the cake decorating side of her business recently and I guess now she wants to retire from sales too. I feel a surprising sense of loss...and fear, because now I'll actually have to plan and order my supplies online in advance. icon_surprised.gif

The location is being turned into a chocolate and candy-making supply store only.

The thought did cross my mind that I should consider going into business, but I just don't think I could handle the stress of retail!

Now to order the pans I went to buy...they are clearing out their stuff and didn't have what I needed. icon_sad.gif

That's really too bad. I understand the retail side of these businesses is very difficult to generate profit with. I wonder how well they're going to do with chocolate and candy only?

I would be devastated if my local place closed, so I really feel for you. IT is such a blessing to be able to pick up specialty items at a moment's notice.

I am sorry to hear this. Where are you located? I have to stay away from mine until I really need something because I spend way to much money.lol.

That is the PITS !! The only thing I had was a Micheal's Store, and when they closed a year or so ago, I was lost..... I HATE ordering things.... I don't have enough orders to keep alot of stuff on hand, and with them so close, I could run over and get the things I needed for that particular cake..... sighhhh.........

I feel for you icon_cry.gif The cake supply store in my town closed last summer too. Now all we have left in a town of 85,000 is a Hobby Lobby and a Michael's. That is better than nothing, but I can't get half of what I need or want. It can be frustrating to buy online. I am planning a flag cake for Labor Day and wanting to try Satin Ice. So I wanted red and blue. One place had the red in 2 lb. tubs, but didn't have the blue. The place that had the blue wanted $3.00 more for their satin ice. So I ended up buying from both companies. On the good side.....I have recieved three packages this week. Just like a mini-Christmas!
