I am using fondant for the first time, and was hoping you all could give me suggestions on covering a square cake. I know that it is hard to ice a square cake(the corners anyway!) Basically I'm not sure about how to do the corners with fondant icon_confused.gif

Though I am no expert, when you lay the fondant over the cake and you start to smooth, do the corners first. Then work the middle of the cake. Hopefully someone with more experience will chime in to help you. Good luck!

I made my first fondant cake a couple of weeks ago in my Wilton Course 3 class and it was a square cake. We put piping gel all around the bottom edges, gently laid the rolled out fondant over the cake, and smoothed out the corners, then pressed it against the cake, all around the bottom edges
against the piping gel, which makes it stick to the cake. Hope that helps!!!

Thank you ladies the advice definitely helps. I happened to be pregnant during Wilton course II, and have not had the chance to get back for course III! icon_sad.gif
