I have found that people are really interested in decorated cookies because you don't see them available too much in stores where I live! They are also quite unique and cute.

I have made them to be given as thank you's for special events like weddings , showers, baptisms and engagement parties. I wrap them in plastic see through bags and attach a thank you card at the top with wording the customer may design themselves. They seem to be taking off more than a cookie bouquet and they are willing to pay me to make them. I have made dozens for weddings, showers and engagement parties and for baseball teams. I think they are a new , unique and welcome trend.

I think it has a lot to do with the time of year. The run up to christmas always has people thinking of cookies...

I just find that they are way easier and faster to make than cakes and also alot cheaper to make especially if your just practicing. They also take less space to store and you can do so much with them like bouquest, baskets, mailing. Plus you can play around with them to use on a cake and you can also use fondant with them so you kind of get a great deal for your money and time. They are also a heck of a lot easier to transport lol

this is funny b/c it's been our family tradition to make decorated sugar cookies for christmas and easter every year. nowadays, not so much easter, but we all definitely break out the pastry bags and tips at my mom's to do the christmas cookies. my mom has a ton of cookie cutters and we get pretty elaborate with BC. she does cookies and cakes for all occasions, birthdays, showers, etc. Thanks to CC, we now have new decorating ideas! mmf, edible images, new recipes, etc. Should be really exciting this christmas!

i usually do more cookies as it gets closer to x-mas....it is sooooo much easier to send cookies with my son to school rather than messy cupcakes or a cake...i just bake then on a stick... wrap them individually...and off they go...no muss, no fuss!!! ( i still looooove doing cakes way more though ).
