Hi to all,
I am going to attempt one of the purse cakes,I am excited but have never tried one before so please help.... ![]()
I have viewed the how to make a purse cake it is so helpful, but I am not sure about the carving aspect of it so can I use the half rounds to create a different purse look without having to carve the cake? And do I have to use the wooden dowels? And my last question is I usaualy use regular fondant to cover my cakes but since joining this site I keep on seeing MMF can somebody please enlighten me on the difference of the two is one easier to work with than the other?please give me any helpful hints thank you so much have an outstanding day, Hails ![]()
Hails, by looking at your photos you should have no problem with a purse cake. I'm no expert, but if you follow the directions, it's faily simple. I used two rounds, cut off the bottoms and put them side by side vertically. Then I just used some of the extra to add to the cake where I thought needed it. I think that the regular fondant is easier to work with, but the MMF tastes so much better and it's a lot cheaper to make my own. I don't make that many cakes, just a hobby so I don't buy in bulk like other cc'rs do. Good luck and I'd love to see your cake when finished!
Here is another really great tutorial by another CC member. I uses round cakes instead of carving (although, the carving is easier than I thought it would be!). Her instructions are actually for a make-up bag, but could be easily adapted for a purse. Good luck!
