Well, my first really big challenge. A co-worker asked for a house warming cake -- I told her I would do it for cost. She and I chatted about it and I offered to make her house in 3D for it -- should have looked at a pic first because when I saw the picture I got very nervous -- this was way outside my league.
To make it to scale the cake ended up being 16" wide and almost 12" tall and close to 40 pounds. It was three separate two layer cakes. I doweled the crud out of it because I had to drive it over 20 miles to her new home over roads under construction -- was a nervous wreck but it made it in one piece with no problems.
The final product is far from perfect (and I hate the pictures show every flaw!) - but in person it was pretty darn good if I don't say so myself. Had a heck of a time with colors but she and her new husband were more than impressed and loved it! So the effort was worth it -- I only charged her a bit more than supplies but told her to tell anyone that asked that the cake was at least $150.00 if someone wanted something similar....
Learned lots and was pleased -- the cake first layer was white almond sour cream with dulce de leche BC filling, second layer was white chocolate sour cream with dulce de leche BC filling, and final layer was devils food sour cream with dulce de leche BC filling. The whole thing is frosted in crusting BC, windows are poured chocolate with luster for shine and driveway is fondant.
First pic is the actual house - next is my cake reproduction!

You did a great job on it! I'll bet she was thrilled!
Great job on the replication. I think you did an excellent job on this cake.
Just remember that if anyone else wants their house duplicated, you must also charge for your time and the complexity of the structure. That includes shopping and baking time.
I hope you get more orders like that one.
