So I can do cakes I understand cakes but im new to the cookie bakeing world (at least from scratch anyway) so I was wondering if you could tell me one what is the best roll out cookie recipe? and two what kind of icing do you use to give it that poured on finished look? (the icing needs to dry hard) I read some people use royal icing so do you melt it to make it more pourable or are you just adding more water?

p.s im in the middle of doing a very last minute retirment cake that is trying to kill me everything is going wrong in the baking stage icon_cry.gif so please cross your fingers that the cake gods will shine on me in the decorating phase. and if the gods dont shine on me oh well im not getting paid and the guys at my husbands work could probably care less if there are a couple crums in the frosting right! icon_razz.gif

The No-Fail Sugar Cookie recipe from kitchengifts.com is a GREAT recipe and holds up really well. That's the only one I use. I also use royal icing with almond and vanilla flavoring added. If you just add water a few drops at a time you can get it the right consistency. You do need a stiff consistency to do the outline first though. There is a great tutorial on this website for baking and decorating cookies.
