I have a big hunk of cake frozen and I need to make a baseball bat, like the one in my photos, I was wondering if I could carve it frozen or if that would be too hard. If anyone has experience, I would appreciate it.
Thanks in advance,
Kym

Yes it is better to cut frozen, less crumbs. I would use a straight edge knife, it will be a cleaner cut. make sure to put a good crumb coat on too.

At least refrigerated, and sometimes if I need to do details I carve frozen.

I'm not an expert on carving cakes!! BUT I did carve my 1st cake last week and received help on frozen or not carving from the ccer's. The consensus was YES, it is easier to carve frozen.....and they were right icon_lol.gif , it was easier!!!

I also learned that I needed a denser cake to carve. Mine was a little too crumby and I will try another recipe next time. Good luck!

I prefer to crave frozen cakes. Makes the process cleaner with less crumbs.
