Has anyone tried the Wilton Cake Pan Release? Is so, how well did it work? I'm thinking about trying it, but part of me is thinking that I should just stick with good 'ole shortening and flour...

I have tried all the methods and I have found that the Wilton Pan
release is the best and then you can go one step better by using
parchment paper with it.

Don't waste your money! You can make your own by mixing equal parts of flour, vegetable oil, and shortening until smooth. Use a silicone pastry brush to spread it into the nooks and crannies of your pans, and you'll never have problems with cakes sticking again!

I use the Wilton release and I love it. It is quick, easy and never sticks! I put it in all of the crevaces with a silicone pastry brush (I don't like using a regular brush for fear of leaving hairs behind) If I am in a bind though...I may try to flour, shortening, oil thing!

I love it, I was really tired of using the parchment paper. The best part is that you get almost no crumbs.

I have used it, and it worked fine, but it seemed to have a noticeable smell. I've started using the pan grease (equal parts melted Crisco, oil, flour) and brushing it on. I like it a lot better.

I love it. I had always used shortening & flour, and my cakes never came out with out some part of them sticking. Ever since I've been using the Cake Release I haven't had a problem. For me it was totally worth it.

Wilton Cake release is good. It use to be my favorite, but now I use Bakers Joy. It just seems a little easier to spray than to have to use a pastry brush to apply the cake release. icon_smile.gif

You can make your own release...

1 cup Vegetable Oil
1 cup Flour
1 cup Shortening

Mix it all together in your mixer and pour in to a container... When you want to use it you can either use a pastery brush or a paper towel sometimes you have to give it a stir... Put it in your cabinet with your cake stuff...

I have always used Bakers Joy and have always had great success. When the store ran out of Bakers Joy, I tried the Crisco spray with flour and it works just as well.
