I've been using dissolved gumpaste in water to stick my flowers together, but in reading, I am seeing gum glue mentioned. Is this something specific?

That's exactly how I was taught to make gum glue.

I make my gumglue with water and a little Tylose...but if what you are using works for you - go for it.

125ml water with 5ml tylose added.
stir, allow to stand for a while, stir again, allow to stand again. Continue doing this until the tylose/CMC is dissolved. Add some to a cleaned nail polish bottle for everyday use. Just keep re-filling as you need.

This is a great way to store it. I am gonna have to see if I can find a new, clean bottle. Or did you use an old bottle and clean it out somehow? icon_confused.gificon_confused.gif

I remember reading a post about using a perfume bottle to spray luster dust on a cake. It was recommended not to use this even if it was cleaned out because the perfume could have been absorbed into the bottle and would not be safe....I would think that this would be the same for a nail polish bottle.

I would be scared to re-use the bottle. I've seen new empty nail polish bottles out there before, and that seem like it would be a great idea SSCakes.

Also, another note, gum glue can grow mold - so keep it in the fridge when not in use (I've had this problem twice).

Thanks for the tip

tyloce is an ingredient you can mix into your fondant to turn it into gumpaste. I get mine at a local cake store but you can also order it online- it might even be in the CC store (but I have not looked).

Craft stores should carry new unused perfume bottles and they should have something that can work as a Nail polish type bottle.

When I first started, I could not find a new bottle anywhere and then just cleaned an old bottle which took forever to do. Lately I have seen them at craft stores.
