Any of you ever work in a restaurant, fast-food or otherwise? After you had been there a while, especially if you worked in the kitchen, did the thought of the food you handled make your stomach turn just a little?

I worked fast-food in high school, and after about a year the food held no appeal. Just too much time around it to enjoy it.

Well, I think I just got there with buttercream. I just made a HUGE batch for this weekend and just to look at it makes me go, UGH. And to taste it......blech! I know it tastes good, but I don't care if I eat cake again anytime soon. icon_razz.gif

I am the same way!! I cannot stand the smell of a cake baking in my kitchen or the smell of buttercream frosting..YUCK!!!

I don't eat cake now because I have diabetes, but even before that I was not much of a cake eater to begin with so I guess now that I know I cannot have it I just don't find it appealing!!

Another gross smell is: After my cakes are done baking as soon as they come out of the oven I throw them pan and all in the freezer for 10 minutes to lock in moisture, but when I open the freezer to get them out that cake smell about knocks me down and it lingers in there for a few days!!! EWWWWWW

I'm getting to that point with certain desserts too.

I worked in a bakery several summers when I was a teenager and I can't stand glazed donuts or caramel rolls. icon_lol.gif I don't eat any donut very often but I never touch these.
I used to eat tons of cake and I still like cake. I find that just a little piece is plenty for me though. We were talking about it last night, my husband thinks it's funny that I won't eat much at a time.

Hockeygirl, after all you've accomplished this week, I'm not surprised that you are feeling the way you do! Hopefully a few cakeless days would refresh you, can you manage a break? Janice

Man, I wish I could get sick of it! It's a struggle NOT to eat but I have been sugar free for a week now and I feel really good.

Ah Janice, I wish I could. From cakes yes, I have a little break. Nothing until next weekend when I need to make Sugar Cookies for the office and a Baby Shower cake for Saturday.

However, from the end of September til the end of the year is my most busy. It is our biggest quarter at work. Thanksgiving and Christmas of course. And currently, a project that I SO LOVE, Operation Christmas Child. I am the project coordinator for our church. It is an awesome program and I wouldn't miss it for the world. I would give up cakes for it! icon_eek.gificon_surprised.gificon_biggrin.gif

Okay this is my idea. Since 'mrhockey' is now a C.C. member maybe he can spare a few moments on a Caking day to make the BC for you. That's what DD's BF does. He bakes her cakes and makes her icing for her whenever she needs him to, all she has to do is decorate. Not having to deal with so much BC might help you tolerate it a bit better. Then when he gets the UGH feeling.......... well you guys are a good team, I'm sure you'll figure it out.

It could be worse... I could work somewhere that has more than 4 employees.
