so i just couldn't wait until sunday..... went to the fair last night! icon_lol.gif both of the cakes i entered took first place! icon_smile.gif yippee!!!! i kinda won by default with my zoo cake because it was the only cake entered in the children's birthday cake competition, but... BUT! .... i REALLY won with the wedding cake (blue one in my photos) since there was another entered as well.... so now that i have a small taste of winning under my belt, i'm probably going to drive my hubby crazy by entering other fairs! icon_lol.gif we'll go back on sunday to pick up my cakes, ribbons and -wait for it- $12!!!!! whoo hooooo!!!!!!!!! icon_lol.gif

hey!!!! i just saw that my cake was in one of the popular cake photos spots on the home page!!!!! YIPPEE!!!!!! i'm so excited!!!! never had a cake there before!!!!! that's better than placing at the fair!!!!!!!!!! *dances around the room* whoo hoooooooo!!!! icon_lol.gif

Beautiful cake. I am sorry my son's bride to be didn't see this before choosing her cake. It is all in her colors. But after spending $75 on the topper, I am not going to show her icon_lol.gif

Congratulatios. Well deserved win. BTY, not sure you won by default. I use to judge entries in the fair and if something really didn't deserve 1st, but looked more like a second or third type of work, I would give it what it deserved, even if it was the only entry. Deptends on what type of judging system. Don't sell yourself short, you WON!!!

Congrats! I know $12 may not seem like much of a prize, but at least you know that your work was well appreciated. My local fairs don't even have cake competitions.
