When I saw the Halloween contest, I really wanted to enter it. I won 4th place in the Father's day one, which thrilled me to no end. So I worked hard on some fondant figures, which I thought turned out fantastically, but when it came time to decorate the cake, I feel like I fell flat. I entered it, but I keep looking at it and I am so disappointed. My MIL took the cake to her workplace, and called me to tell me how many compliments it was getting, my friends and family think it is great, so why I am so down about it? Maybe because I see what I am up against. 
Its hard to win cake contests. Only one person gets to win (or two or three depending on the situation) and so many have so much talent.
Your talent is great, there are so many people in your area that you can make happy by using your talent, try not to base your self image on contests. 
Halloween is my favorite but I have to say that cakes like this are why I am afraid to even try to make something to enter!! I really like the witches cute face! It's beautiful and I think you should display that picture proudly. Good luck and always appreciate your own talents!!
I think that once you get to be as talented as you are, that you become more and more critical of yourself because you end up trying to best yourself. Did that make any sense?

I think it's adorable but I don't think you're supposed to let everyone know you made which cake - it's supposed to be anonymous so people vote for the best cake and don't vote b/c it's their friend's cake or something - plus I don't think you're allowed to have it posted in the gallery AND in the contest b/c again it shows that it's YOUR cake...... after the contest it will be put into your photos. Just wanted to share that so you don't get disqualified b/c I DO think it's a great cake!
Okay, my two cents......May I ask a little question? I 'd like to know why you started creating cakes in the first place? Maybe if you try going back to that piece of joy of a successful cake your heart will lift and soar also!
Please be very careful of the "beauty queen syndrome" where you must enter every contest to validate your "beauty" or in our world, your cake "talent".
I looked at your cakes and your gallery is lovely with lots of wonderful work! Be proud of yourself!
It's definitely gonna be hard to vote, there are some great entries!! But don't worry, the quality of your work is right up there with everyone else's!!
